Alumni Coordinator, Communitas Ventures
Communitas America is a social impact nonprofit based in Harlem that incubates early-stage BIPOC entrepreneurs. We are seeking a dynamic Alumni Coordinator with strong interpersonal skills to join our team. This is a contract hybrid position for up to 15 hours/week requiring 2+ days per week onsite (including some evenings and weekends). The Community Coordinator will be responsible for increasing engagement within our community of 200+ program alumni.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct community outreach, seek insights into alumni progress/needs, and provide updates to internal teams (7 hrs/week), including:
Proactively implement 1:1 check-ins with 5+ alums per week and and facilitate referrals to internal teams
Support digital engagement with alumni via social media accounts & Community Slack channel
Design and administer regular onsite/offsite alumni-focused events to facilitate greater engagement (especially from earlier cohorts) including happy hours, town hall meetings, and workshops (5 hrs/week, requires evening availability) including:
Create event invites and own outreach to increase attendance
Design and facilitate community building workshop activities
Space setup/breakdown
Coordinate event-related data collection (attendee info and alumni feedback)
Coordinate event food/drinks/supplies as needed
Support weekly alumni skill-share/partner workshops on Tuesday evenings and other alumni-led events. Share learnings about alumni needs/insights weekly with internal teams (3 hrs/week, requires evening and potentially some weekend availability)
Host and MC large events like our bi-annual wellness dinner, pitch night, and partner events (ad-hoc/as needed on roughly a monthly basis, requires evening availability)
Qualifications/Skills:
Demonstrated experience in community outreach, events, or related roles
Proven track record of planning and facilitating professional workshops and networking events
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of community dynamics, cultural sensitivities, and familiar with NYC-based BIPOC community ecosystems
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Familiarity with Google Suite, Zoom, Eventbrite, and Luma is a plus
Compensation: $35/hr contract position starting in late Feb 2024
